James John Snowdon was born 1896 in West Hartlepool. Checking through records, there only appears to be one James John Snowdon born then and in West Hartlepool.

In 1901, we find him living at 41 Angus St, West Hartlepool with his parents and at the same place in 1911. He was sent overseas to the Balkans Theatre in September 1915. We find at least 2 wound reports for him, the first being Jan 1917 and the second, May 1918. The first report shows us he had already served for 2 years and was serving with the 8th Battalion when he was injured by shrapnel in the face.

He married Hilda Metcalfe in 1921 and in 1939, we find him living at 13 Topcliffe St, West Hartlepool. and working as a general warehouseman.

James died in 1961.

Medal is on a length of modern ribbon. Please note the pitting to the rear. Naming is easily read.
