He joined the 8th Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry 4th September 1914 in Bodmin

He served in France seeing action on the Somme, later he saw further action in Salonica and at some point he was transferred to 979 Labour Company as 485735

He was invalided home in 1919 suffering 30% disablement due to malaria and dysentery

His address given as his sisters at 4 Drayton Place Anderson Street Birmingham
