An interesting family group of medals with original ephemera.

Ww1 British War Medal and mercantile marine medal named Thomas Frankland. Swing mounted as worn.

Continuous certificate of discharge named to Thomas frankland Born 1888 at slights in Yorkshire covering July 1910 until May 1918 .

2 of the ships he served on ( ss ryde & ss warlion ) would go on to be sunk in ww2 by uboats .

Original cloth certificate as 2nd lass engineer dated March 1916 .

Over 20 original letters of recommendation on shipping lines  paper from the ship he  served on .

A seaman’s card for entry into USA dated 1919 .

 

Sons group .

Thomas Allan frankland born Leeds in Yorkshire 19th October 1923 .

1939 star , Atlantic star,  Africa Star with North Africa 1942-43 clasp , Italy Star & war medals unnamed as issued.

Transmittal box named Mr j a frankland , 1 viaduct place ,Leeds.

Transmittal slip from minister of transport confirming 6 awards enclosed ( 5 medals plus clasp).

A photo of him In uniform named on rear .

Continuous certificate of discharge from Jan 42 as 5th engineer  until Feb 52 .

He served on board ss empire falcon from Jan 42 until April 1944 .

A 2nd service book with one entry for 1952 sailing on the esso cadilac.
