A very nice pair on short original ribbons named to K10914 GA Graves Act l Sto RN

George was born 16th May 1890 in Liverpool Lancashire.

A coal dealer by occupation.

He joined up for a 12 year period on 1st April 1911.

He served from 4th June 1912 to 31st March 1919 on HMS Lion, a battle cruiser that saw action several times in WW1 including being Admiral Beatties flagship at Battle of Jutland.

Falling ill he was transferred to HMHS His Majesties Hospital Ship Garth Castle and died on board on 31st March 1919 of influenza, bronchial pneumonia and emphysema aged 28 years. He is buried at Liverpool Kirkdale Cemetery.  His next of kin was Alice Jane Hooper (formally Graves) 110 Goodison Rd,  Walton,  Liverpool.
