A Memorial Plaque with a very interesting and sad story to Evan Paul
Evan was born c 1882 in Vauxhall Lancashire
He joined the 12th Battalion Kings Liverpool Regiment with service number 18289
Address given as 3 Prussia Street off Old Hall Road Liverpool. His service records survive showing he died 25th May 1915 of natural causes, see pictures for digital copies of the record he apparently took part in a covering party in no man’s land dropping dead of heart failure. He was buried in Cottage Garden Cemetery. At the end of the war, all graveyards of 40 burials or less were exhumed and reburied in larger cemeteries sadly due to heavy shelling and fighting in the area his and others soldiers graves could not be identified so he has no defined resting place
A very clean Woolwich produced plaque in good order hopefully his medals are out there for a reunite
