Correctly named medal 3342 Pte J White W Rid Regt

John was born in Leeds in 1873 and we find an address, 3 Sykes Place, York Road, Leeds. He was a labourer when he enlisted into the 2nd Bn West Ridings in 1892.

His records survive and from them we see he was mounted infantry from 1894 and served in the Matabele Wars in 1896 in Rhodesia entitling him to the British South Africa Company Medal with Rhodesia clasp. The QSA has the clasps Transvaal and Orange Free State.

He is also entitled to a Kings South Africa Medal with both date clasps. The medal has good clear ghost dates.

John was discharged in July 1908.

Medal comes with modern ribbon also for the BSAC and KSA medals in the hope for a re-unite that would make a stunning group to a great regiment.
