Joseph was born 13th May 1873 at Gosport Hants  , a general labourer by occupation.

He joined the Royal Navy 4th march 1892 as acting 2nd cooks mate .

He served on many different ships and shore bases during ww1 he served aboard Hms Magnificent a Scapa flow guardship from August 1914 to February 1915 . Then Royal Arthur February 1915 to March 1918 .

He was then briefly hms pembroke shore base until discharged with a silver war badge in November 1918 .

His address 87 Parkham Road,  Gosport,  Hampshire.

He sadly died 20th June 1919 .

His widow Alice May living at 5 reddenhall Road,  Babbacombe.

More research needed into cause of death .
