A Victory Medal on original ribbon named to 237979 wWJM Aitken a b rn some eks and naming is perfectly readable but slightly faintly stamped

William was born Woolwich/Chatham Kent 18th March 1889 (has both places listed between his service records) a labourer by occupation he joined the Navy on 4th Jan 1907 and of the many ships he served on a notable one was HMS Implacable which whist he was part of the crew took part in support of the Gallipoli campaign  he went on to serve until 1st December 1941 being discharged invalided by mental inefficiency after an impressive 34 years service
