Correctly named WWI BWM: F30516 WE Jones RNAS
Correctly named Special Constable Medal William E Jones
William Eason Jones was born in Leicester in 1895. His father was Samuel. An address for Samuel is given as Grand Clothing Hall, High Street Long Eaton, Derby.
He enlisted into the Royal Navy in early 1917 where his occupation is noted as that of a shop manager.
He was transferred to the Royal Navy Air Service in June 1917 and then the Royal Air Force in April 1918 upon its formation. His records shows him to be a hydrogen worker which most likely puts him in a Kite Unit.
He was based in Aberdeen and RAF East Fortune, Edinburgh for most of his service and this would explain the sole issue BWM.
Williams address upon his release is given as Fairholme, 114 College Road, Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Both medals have original silk ribbons.
