Correctly named 235155 Pte A Reed 52 Can Inf

Born in 1877 in Herstmonceux, Arthur enlisted into 52nd Canadian Infantry. He had previously prior to moving to Canada, served with the 1st Sussex Royal Engineers for 3 years. A baker by calling, he moved to Netherhill, Saskatchewan, Canada.

He enlisted in May 1916 in Kindersley, SK, and served in France from May 1917. He suffered a gunshot (shell) wounding to his left thigh/hip in August 1917. This is most probably after the Hill 70 attacks when the battalion were involved in the beginnings of the Third Battle of Ypres – Passchendaele.

He was hospitalised General Hospital 22 in Camiers before his return to the UK.

Arthur is entitled to a Pair.

Medal comes on a length of modern ribbon.
