Harry Edward Smith was a gardener by occupation he was born in Halifax in Yorkshire, England.

He had seen previous service in 4th West Riding regt for 5 years .

He enlisted at brockville , ontario 8th March 1916 into the 156th battalion cef .

After transfer 119th battalion then the 21st battalion.

He entered France 28th February 1918 and was wounded by a gas shell on 15th August 1918 .

Awarded the Military Medal for gallantry .

His next of kin addresses was given as 43 wall St , brockville , ontario & 36 violet St, Halifax, yorks .

Demobbed 20th March 1919 he was returned to Canada 21st June 1919 .
