William Cahill was born 20th April 1880 at crobally , County Tramore,  Waterford, Ireland.

1911 an agricultural labourer by occupation living at 11 Upper crobally.

His parents were Patrick and Catherine.

He joined the Royal Naval Reserve 30th September 1901 and was discharged 29th September 1926 .

He served on various ships and shorebases  in  ww1 inc .

Illustrious 11th August 1914 to 9th July 1915 ( guardship )

Colleen 26th July 1915 to 26th August 1916 ( depot ship queenstown Ireland)

Hydrangea 27th August 1916 to 7th November 1917 ( minesweeper )

Cormorant 8/11/17 – 20/1/18  and 1/6/18 -30/11/18 ( shore establishment Gibraltar)

Egmont 21/1/18 – 31st /5/18 (shore base Malta )

Geranium 1/12/18 – 25/4/19 ( minesweeper )

Tamar 26/4/19 – 19/8/19 ( china Station Hong Kong. )

 

Lived at 38 King St Penarth and 28 plassey St Penarth,  Glamorgan in early 1920s .

1926 living at 12 cannon Street,  Todmorden,  Yorkshire.
