Correctly named Trio to 1939 Pte GC Saul Sher Rang, Defence unnamed as issued.

George Cecil Saul was born in Clareborough, East Retford in Nottinghamshire in 1883. In 1911, it is noted he is living at Spital Hill, Clareborough, East Retford.

We find him living in Rotherham and working as a laundryman in 1911 with the address 22 North Pitt Street. We find he married Edith Scott in 1914. His Pension Card shows and address for him as 62 Claremont Street in Rotherham.

His MIC shows he served with the Sherwood Rangers, the Notts & Derby Regiment with the service number 9589 and also the MGC with the service number 129576. The MIC shows he enters the Russian theatre of war on 27/4/1915, most probably with the MGC. He was discharged from service in February 1919.

We find him next in 1939 living with his wife Edith and daughter at 52 Beechville Avenue, Scarborough. Here he is seen to be a cake maker/confectioner. It is also noted he served with the Scarborough ARP.

George died in 1962.
