Correctly named to 1070012 Pte D Combe 5-Can.Inf.  He was a part of the 249th Division.

David was born in Glasgow in 1892. He was living in Massachusetts when he enlisted to fight. He is recorded as a steamfitter by calling. He had previous service with the 7th Battalion Scottish Rifles for 3 years.

Just a few excerpts from his medical records:

“On Aug 9th 1918 while advancing on Amiens front a shell fragment hit him in the left groin”

” The fragment passed out of the left buttock having traversed the pelvis”

On a nice long length of original silk ribbon. His records make interesting reading.
