Correctly named medal 302231 Gnr W Morrison CFA

William was born in Aberdeen c1878. His next of kin address in Scotland is Mrs Agnus Morrison, 22 Byres Road, Kilwinning, Ayreshire. William himself moved across to Canada and was living at 145 Lottridge Road, Hamilton, Ontario. He is recorded as being a labourer.

He enlisted in 1915 and left Canada for Plymouth on 5/2/1916 and arrived on 14/2/1916. He was sent overseas to France on 13th July 1916, the Battle of the Somme just 13 days old.

We can read from his papers that he served with the 40th Battery (Sportsmen’s) Canadian Field Artillery  and ranked as a Batman.
