Reginald Harry Burrows first enlisted in the Royal Navy Division as R716 in 1917 where he was with the 3rd Reserve Battalion Blandford. Here he was discovered to be underaged at 16 and discharged.

He was a printer from Latimere Leicester and said he was born in 1898 but was actually 1899.

He re-enlisted into the RNVR, with the 5th Light Cruiser Squadron and eventually ended up serving on HMS Danae just before she went to assist the Bolsheviks in Russia.
