An interesting family group consisting of.

Ww1 Victory on replacement ribbon named to 204994 gnr I j hawkes ra .

Isaac was born 1888 at Deptford in Kent.

A labourer by occupation he enlisted 9th December 1915 .

Addresses given as  wakeman villa , Wellington Rd,  St Mary’s.  & 16 Henry Rd,  new Cross.

Served with 129 siege battery royal garrison artillery.

Awol 2nd May 1919 to 15th May 1919 given 10 days field punishment no2 .

 

Ww2 group defence medal unnamed as issued & exemplary fire service medal William j hawkes swing mounted as worn a civil defence medal unnamed as issued on its own mounting brooch .

Box of transmittal for defence medal addressed to Mr w j hawkes , 86 olron crescent,  becxley heath,  Kent.

Son william James hawkes 17th Jan 1913 to 1989 .

1939 living at 86 Olson crescent,  bexley , Kent  , a green keeper & tractor driver by occupation.

As an auxiliary fireman he would no doubt have taken part in fighting the fires during the blitz on London during ww2 .
