Box named to Mr John pugh , 7 algernon Street, Warrington, Lancs.

Son of John and Maria Pugh, of Warrington, Lancashire. He had two older brothers and two older sisters. His father was a Forge Labourer in an Iron Works.

Before he joined the Navy, Augustine worked as an Iron Foundry Labourer .

On the 24th February 1941, three German He 111 bombers attacked the British destroyers HMS Dainty and HMS Hasty in Tobruk Harbour, Libya at 1900 hours . HMS Dainty was sunk by a 500kg bomb, killing 16 of her crew.
