Postcard sent to w g Borthwick ab d/jx 272044 mess 6 hms Ruben’s c/o gpo London England. ( hms Ruben’s was a trawler taken over by the admiralty and assigned to anti submarine warfare on convoy protection duty she was bombed and sunk in the Atlantic by a German fw 200 condor of kg40 13th February 1941).

Transmittal slip confirming the medals and box addressed to ” Mr wg Borthwick 20 eymort Street, lambhill , Glasgow, nw .

Prewar merchant Navy continuous certificate of discharge and national union of seaman books, driving licence & certificate of insurance from 1930s and a summons for driving his motorcycle over 20 miles per hour in Edinburgh in 1932.

William Graham Borthwick was born 16th March 1907 at Edinburgh in Scotland he joined the merchant Navy in 1938 doing 3 trips to New York on board the cameronia out of Glasgow as a Steward.
