Dennis was born In Writtle, Essex 26th December 1925
A lorry drivers mate by occupation, He volunteered for serving in the Royal Navy Jun 1943 .
His nok address mother Edith may of Ongar Rd , cooksmill Green, Writtle , nr Chelmsford , Essex.
Inc is his original certificate of service and order for release from naval service dated 1947 .
He served on hms Ledbury from 14th October 1943 to 18th December 1944 .
During this time Ledbury was present at salerno landings ( operation Avalanche ) and also support of retaking the Islands and mainland of Greece ( operation Manna ).
There is his medals on modern court mounted display .
Hms cap tally and trade badge a St Christopher marked hms Ledbury 1943 1944 he wore during his navy service.
A millennium royal British Legion medallion inscribed d Palmer p/jx 520590 hms Ledbury l90 he purchased it whist a member of the basildon rbl .
He was also a member of the hms Ledbury old comrades society.
There is also 40 approx original pictures relating to his service most have captions on front and rear explaining their story .
He died 8th March 2015 at basildon aged 89 .
