Correctly named S/7804 Pte J Taylor Sea Highrs

John was born c1893 and hailed from Manchester. An address found for him is 5 ‘Brosclon?’ St, Manchester.

John served with the 2nd Bn from March 1915. He was with his Bn during the Battle of the Somme in October 1916 when they were ordered to take Dewdrop Trench in the vicinity of Les Beoufs on the 23rd of October.

Owing to the fact that some ground was gained, the attack was seen as a success. It cost the lives of 16 men with 21 wounded.

John suffered from shrapnel in both legs and contusion of the right knee presumably from the active German bombardment and was hospitalised on the 24th of October.

He was medically discharged aged 23 in August 1917 with the Silver War Badge numbered 224880 (not present)

He is of course entitled to a 15 Star Trio. He landed in France on the 8th July 1915.
