Ernest was born in Birmingham in 1891. We have his address as 2 Back, 146 Hope St, Birmingham and his trade as a cycle turner.

He married Sarah Jane Keen in St Albans in 1911.

Ernest served with the 12th Bn (2nd Reserves) and went overseas with the 4th Bn where he would have landed in Marseilles in March 1916. He was wounded in his right arm and hand and this was reported in October 1916. They were part of the 29th Division then serving on the Ypres Salient. He would later transfer to the 88th Company Machine Gun Corps and later the 52nd Company. Here he was given the service number 73075. It was whilst serving with the 88th Co MGC that Ernest was gassed in March 1818. He transferred to the 52nd in the April of 1918.

We find him in 1939 as a newspaper agent living at 61 Dearman Road, Birmingham.

Ernest died in 1965. The pair is his full entitlement.

The pair are mounted on card for display with modern ribbon.
