Correctly named 62047 Dvr C Bailey RFA, RA on Pair and GSM

Charles was born in 1897 to Arthur and Charlotte. The family hailed from Cheltenham and in 1911, we find them living at 3 Cudnall Street, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham with Charles working as a grocers errand boy whilst attending school.

He attested into the Royal Artillery in January 1915 and was sent to France in Sptember 1915 earning himself his 15 Star Trio.

After the war, Charles remained in service and was sent to Iraq to serve. He was with the 97th Battery but was attached to the 1/10 Gurkhas Rifles.

He was given a new service number 1046286 and earned his GSM Iraq in September 1923.

He married Lilian Hester Partridge in 1926 and we find him in 1939 living at ‘Donrimein’, South Cerney, Cirencester. He is een to be working now as a coal merchant.

The medals are swing mouted on original, threadbare ribbons on a clasp (no pin) as worn.
