Correctly named Capt TW Wareham

Thomas Wyatt Wareham was born to William and Louisa in 1885 in Coventry.

He studied to become a teacher in London University and in 1911 we find the family living at 86, Kingsway, Stoke with Thomas an assistant teacher.

Enlisting into the 14th (1st Birmingham) Warwickshire Regiment with the service number 14/1021, Thomas soon transferred to the Royal Engineers with a new service number 114448.

He headed overseas to France on the 14th of September 1915 earning himself a 1915 Star Trio.

He rose to the rank of Acting Sergeant before being commissioned into the Royal Engineers in September 1916.

Also in 1916, he married Edith Alice Bolton.

After the war, he settled in 152 Northfield Road in Birmingham and reprised his role as a schoolmaster.

Still at the same address in 1939 and working in a secondary school.

Thomas died in 1979.

Duting our research, we did manage to find a picture of Thomas in uniform.

The medal has an original silk ribbon.
