Francis was born in 1893 and hailed from Cronghill, Aucnacloy in Coutny Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
His fathers named was Edward.
Research tells us he later resided in Dungannon.
He enlisted in Omagh and served with the 8th Battalion,
He died from wounds and the effects of gas poisoning on the 30th of April 1916.
Diaries tell us that the 8th were at Noeux Les Mines on the 29th of April when the enemy fired poison gas shells at 0345 am. Diaries record a greenish cloud followed by a yellowish creamy gas.
He is buried at Choques Military Cemetery, France.
