WWII grouping with pre war Palestine GSM. Pyrah. Essex Regiment.

Correctly  named GSM: 6009214 Pte G Pyrah Essex R

George was awarded his GSM as a corporal in February 1940. We can assume he was 1st Battalion that served in Palestine from 1936-1939.

Classic North Africa grouping, 39-45 Star, Africa Star, Defence and War Medals. More research needed to confirm possibly an award of a clasp to the Africa Star. All WWII medals unnamed as issued.

1st Battalion Essex Regiment WWII: 1st Battalion’s Second World War service was more varied. It was posted first to Abyssinia (1940), before joining the invasion of Syria (1941). It later joined the Burma campaign, fighting with the Chindits.

All medals have original silk ribbons also included is an Essex Regiment capbadge.
