Edward William hoyten was born c1880 at Plymouth in Devonshire.

1911 a paid Corporal in 26th company royal engineers living at 9 amery Hill,alton ,hants .

Entered France 17th August 1914.

Mentioned in Despatches 13th June 1916 ( lg) in general Haigh Despatch for gallant and distinguished Conduct.

Awarded the meritorious service medal 17th October 1916 ( lg).

Distinguished Conduct Medal awarded 13th February 1917 ( lg) For conspicuous devotion to duty.

Long service good conduct medal awarded as warrant Officer Class II 1923 under sevice number 1851662

He married In 1909 at Alton and July 1937 at Plymouth.

Edward died April 1944 at Newport, gwent .

He is in addition to the dcm also entitled to a 1914 trio with clasp & Mid oakleaf, Meritorious service medal & lsgc medal whereabouts unknown.
