3 KGVI promotion scrolls named to John Alexander McNeil.

1st dated 23/7/1947 Royal Artillery

2nd dated 2/6/1949 Royal Artillery

3rd dated 19/8/1950 Royal Army Ordnance Corps

These scrolls are mainly for his later service with the Territorial Army.

John Alexander McNeil was born in 1915 in Glasgow.

He held the service number 245233 and served with the 1st Reconnaissance Corps through WWII. Commissioned to Lieutenant in 1942 LG 16/10/1942

He served in North Africa with the 1st Army and went across to Italy. It is here on the 20th of February 1944 he is recommended for his award of the Military Cross. A good fighting citation that we managed to find and include in our pictures. Also we found newspaper reports in the UK also detailing his exploits that earned him his MC.

He was to serve post war and earned the General Service Medal with Palestine 1945-48 medal.

His full entitlement would be: Military Cross, 39-45 Star, Africa Star with 1st Army clasp, Italy Star, War & Defence and Palestine 45/48 GSM.

He was awarded his WWII medals which were sent to Fortress HQ in Gibraltar.
