Transmittal box named Mrs l m pearce ,47 lady croft walk ,Stanmore, middlesex .
cj/1844 petty officer Alfred pearce was born 7th September 1892 at Southwark London.
He joined the Royal Navy as boy sailor in 1908 serving on many ships pre and post ww1 ,awarded his lsgc medal in March 1931.
He was a petty officer on ss almeda star when he was killed in action, all hands being lost when the ship was torpedoed and then sunk by gunfire from u-96 on 17th January 1941 inc 4 lifeboats that apparently were launched . this happened 35 miles north of rockall.
His widow lily pearce of Stanhope, middlesex .
It would be nice to reunite these with his ww1 and lsgc medals ,whereabouts unknown.
