A very interesting period miniature group and other items relating to a very brave ww1 soldier .

Distinguished Conduct Medal ( retains its original mounting clasp but sewn onto the bar for wear.

1915 star .maker marked to rear .

British War Medal.

Victory medal .

Ww1 French croix de guerre with palm leaf .

Italian bronze Al valore.

All miniatures are mounted as worn by recipient on the bar he would have worn late war with the dcm , 1915 star and Italian bronze medal for military valour  .

Also inc is a 9ct gold watch fob marked great European war to front and pres to Sgt w Berkeley dcm mm on his return from Egypt and France April 1919.

A glass framed photo of the recipient in uniform with dcm and Al valore ribbons clearly visible,.

Wilfred was born cotheridge nr Worcestershire in England he had trained as a motor engineers apprentice for 2 years at alday and onions of Birmingham.

He enlisted in d company 25th Battalion Australian imperial force January 6th 1915 .

He was sent to Gallipoli 1st and there recieved the 1st of his many wounds suffering a bomb explosion  wound to his arm 5th October 1915 .and being evacuated to Gibraltar then back to England in November 1915 .

He rejoined the battalion In March 1916 in Alexandria and later that month proceeded with them to join the bef in France.

He went on to suffer no less than 5 more recorded wounds whist on western front inc several gun shot wounds and being gassed.

Awarded the Italian bronze medal for military valour on 25th May 1917 .

And the Distinguished Conduct medal London gazette 21st October 1918 . Citation reads ” for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  This nco has rendered good and gallant service during the period under review . He was present at two very important actions in which the unit was engaged ,behaving with much gallantry and devotion to duty.  He was wounded in both these battles and has been wounded four times during his three years service in the field ”

 

It comes with printed out copy of his service papers that confirm his whole service during ww1 .
