A rather interesting boxed naval General service medal in its transmittal box .
Box named Mr a atwell, 13 Buxton Rd, heaviley, Stockport.
Medal named to jx521697 a atwell ab rn . ( see picture of rim seems to have had an official correction between surname and rank ).
Based on the address Arthur was living there in 1939 and was at the time a plumbers labourer living with his wife minnie and 13 Buxton Rd.
Born 8th May 1890 at Stockport in Cheshire.
1911 a brimmer in a hat works in Stockport, boarding at 41 Booth St, edgley, Stockport.
It seems he served in ramc in ww1 as 121459 pte at time listed at 77 Richardson St.
He died in Stockport in 1978 .
We would imagine he must have seen service in ww2 to have served postwar to get his general service medal.
