Italian armata altipiani 1918 medal in silver ( unnamed but a rare award only 450 being issued to British officers ) it was awarded to officers only for the Battle of piave -asiago plateau on 15th June 1918 .

Lieutenant Lionel Hugh way was born in Newport Isle of Wight 4th Jan 1885 .

1911 a lodger at 9 Wollaston Road, Dorchester employed by the inland revenue as a government valuer .

Attested for Royal engineers 8th Feb 1915 3/2nd south midland field coy as 2122 and 506642 Discharged to a commission 31st March 1917 served overseas with 475 field coy re .

Mentioned in Despatches for gallant and distinguished Service in Italy.

Awarded the obe as a land commissioner ministry of agriculture & fisheries.

He died in Weymouth, Dorset March 1971 aged 86 years .
