Louis was born 1894 .
His mother Mrs Martha Williams lived at 9 Higham St, Oldham Road, Manchester.
He served with 21st Battalion Manchester who were 6th City Pals.
The battalion marched to manetz halte on 13th July and bivouacked for the night .
The next day they moved forward to sabot copse.
C Coy was sent forward to reinforce troops attacking Bazentin- le – petit Wood this was the action in which Louis was killed aged 22 .
We can only surmise that at some point the family decided to sell or pawn the British War medal so removed some details from rim .
