George served with the 59th anti tank regiment royal artillery ( Duke of connaught Hampshire).

They landed in Normandy in June 1944 .

The unit also served along side 30 corp in operation market garden taking on some of the most powerful German tanks of the war and taking casualties in doing so .

George now a Lance bombardier was zend his medals in November 1948 to 49 newcomen Road, stanishaw ,Portsmouth, Hampshire he was noted as 26 years old .

A nice group to a unit that saw heavy fighting .
