Correctly named WWI plaque Frank Jonah Edgington

Frank was born in 1888 to Josiah and Rosina in Mickleton, Campden near Gloucester.

We see in 1911 he was living at Mickleton, and working as a market gardener.

He served with the 7th, 8th and 9th Battalions with the service number 12389.

He was sent overseas to France in September 1915 earning himself a 1915 Star Trio.

Records show him reported missing in March 1918 and also on the deceased list ‘Totenliste’

It is not stated on records where he was captured, or if he was wounded at the time or if he made it to a POW camp.

Records tell us he was captured whilst with the 8th Battalion, C Company, 11th platoon and that he was reported missing on the 21st of March 1918.

The 8th Battalion, on the 21st of March 1918 had just moved up from Salamanca Camp toward Velvwood and were in position from 1pm and were counter attacking the village of Doignies at 7pm.

Franks date of death is recorded as the 31st of March 1918.

The plaque surround shows obvious signs of age with the plaque having a few spots of verdigris.
