Correctly named 30463 Pte W Renwick R Scots

William was born to Violet and James in Wamphray, Dumfrieshires in 1878.

In 1901, we see him listed as a drapers assistant living at 122 Dunchattan Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow.

An address given for him is 1 Townhead Street, Lockerbie. He enlisted into the 1st Bn Royal Scots in March 1916. He was working at the time as a farmer.

He headed to Salonica with the the 3rd Bn Royal Scots, MEF, in April 1916.

He remained with the Lothians until January 1918 when he contracted malaria and ended up transferring to the 976th Company Labour Corps with the service number 486474 eventually being discharged in April 1919.

He returned to his occupation of draper after the War.

William died in 1944 and is buried at Dryfesdale Cemetery, Dumfries. We were able to find his obituary online, please see the photographs.

The medals have long original silk ribbons.
