Correctly named Major EFC Dowding
Born 1875 to Frederick and Mary in Clevedon, Somerset, Ernest Frederick Charles married Barbara Hardman in 1896.
He studied for his medical training at St Thomas Hospital where we find him on the register in May 1892.He was to qualify as a physician and surgeon.
He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in 1914 and went overseas to France in May 1915 earning himself the 1915 Star Trio.
An address on his MIC is noted as Damian House, Congleton in Cheshire.
He was promote to Captain which is in the London Gazette in 1915 and again promoted to Major in 1919.
We find him in 1939 working as a doctor and living at 22 Kenilworth Road, Putney, Wandsworth.
Ernest died in 1948.
The medal has a modern replacement ribbon.
