Correctly named 18438 Pte H Wood W York R

Harry hailed from Starbeck, Harrogate. He first enlisted into the 18th Battalion (2nd Bradford Pals) and his MIC states he went overseas to Theatre 2B Balkans, Gallipoli on October 26th 1915.

After the evacuation of Gallipoli, they headed to the Western Front, across the Mediterranean between March and June 1916.

It is unclear when he transferred to the 10th Battalion West Yorkshires but we know he is with them in B Company when he is reported missing in May 1918. They are in the Arqueves area from the 9th of May and Harry is reported missing on the 25th of May. This is around the time of the Spring Offensive.

Records tell us he was repatriated on the 28th of November 1918 where he promptly re-enlists with the service number 87227.

He is entitled to a 1915 Star Trio.

The medal has a long original silk ribbon.
