John Fielder was born in Goole, Yorkshire to George and Elizabeth in 1901.
At the time of his enlistment in July 1931, he was living at 27 Pasture Avenue in Goole.
He married Florence Addie in 1927.

At the time of his calling out by proclamation for war service, he was serving aboard HMS Resource, a fleet repair ship. He served in the Mediterranean sea aboard her until July 1940 when he was transferred to the trawler HMS Milford Countess for minesweeping duties with the 91st Minesweeping Group off Tobruk, Port Said and Suez.
He left the Milford Countess to serve aboard HMS Skudd 3, a Norwegian whaler used in the Mediterranean. He was aboard the Skudd 3 from May 1941 until July 1941. In August 1941, the Skudd 3 was sunk in port by German aircraft.
He was the to serve aboard HMS Sphinx from July to November 1941 and then to the Submarine Supply Ship HMS Medway.
He was returned to the UK in January 1942.

He was released from service in October 1945.
Awarded his LSGC from HMS Gosling in 1946.

We were lucky during our research to find an online image of John and Florence with John in uniform.
John died in 1976.

All medals are swing mounted on a clasp for wear with original silk ribbons.
