From the medals, we see Stanley served in North West Europe in WWII. Records tell us he served with the General Service Corps before transferring to the Royal Artillery in June 1945.
He was serving with 76 Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery when he went overseas to Azizia Barracks in Tripoli, Libya in April 1947. He remained there until 1950 having also served with the 71st Battery HAA.
He was posted to Grange Camp, Bedford with 70th HAA in May 1950 then in June is seen to serve with 579th and 623rd Light Anti Aircraft Batteries respectively.
In March 1952, he is posted to serve with BAOR in Germany, 5/30 HAA.
We see him head to Japan in March 1952 then taken on strength for the Korean Conflict from April until October 1952. We know that 7 British batteries of the Royal Artillery served in Korea although no records we found show which battery Stanley served with or any papers related to the award of any medals. Its possible he stayed in Japan?
He returned to the UK and became a reservist in February 1953.
The medals are swing mounted as worn with original silk ribbons. Also included is a General Service Corps cap badge.
