He married Ethel in 1913 .
He joined the horse transport company in August 1914 enlisting at Lewisham his occupation given as fitter .
He entered Balkans 3rd December 1915 .
Served with 10th Irish division initially then the 22nd division.
Whist serving in salonika with 111 coy ht asc he suffered from malaria being treated on hospital ship essequibo in August 1916 .
And again in hospital in April 1917 whist with 109 coy asc with recurring malaria.
On discharge he was living with Ethel at 66 Wandsworth Rd, penge .
Discharged class z from 667 coy in May 1919 suffering 30% disablement due to malaria .
