Alexander Patrick winterbottom was born at Hollingwood, Oldham in Lancashire on 6th March 1887 .
He joined up in 1905 serving on several ships inc hms aboukir pre war ( she would sadly we sunk along with her sisters hogue and cressey on the broad 14s with huge loss of lives ) .
He served on numerous ships during the war and was sentenced to 21 days detention for absence he continued to serve post war and died of disease 3rd July 1923 .
His next of kin was mother euginie leigh of 4 back Carrington Lane, Hollingwood, Oldham.
