Thomas entered France 28th July 1915 serving with the 10th then 9th battalions of the East lancashire regiment .

According to a printed record that came with the medals he attended 2 school of mortars ,3rd army 18th March 1916 .

11/2 t.m.b 24/3/16 trans 11/1 tmb 8th May 1916 .

He was admitted to 10th field ambulance with gunshot wound abdomen 1st July 1916 and 29ccs gsw buttock 2nd July 16 then admitted St John a b hospital gsw buttock 2nd July 1916 .

Evacuated to England gsw buttocks 8th July 16 .

All must be relating to his wounds on 1st July.
