Frederick was born in 1890 to Fred and Margaret and at the time of enlistment was residing at 13 Albermarle Avenue, Clitheroe with his wife, Mary Ann.

He served with both the 2nd and 9th battalions of the East Lancashires and also served as 404442 in the 35th Company Labour Corps.

He served as 47874 in the 13th Bn Inniskilling Fusiliers and was with these when they were fighting in the area of Vieux Berquin, just short of the Belgian border in August 1918.

It was just after the Battle of Amiens, on the 27th of August 1918, when the 13th Bn Inniskillings were advancing under a creeping barrage that 147 other ranks were wounded. Frederick was to die from his wounds on the 28th of August.

He is remembered on Panel 5 of the Ploegsteert Memorial in Belgium.

He is entitled to a pair.

The BWM has a modern replacement ribbon.
