Charles (Charlie) was born in Halifax 1894. In the 1911 Census, we find him living in Stainland near Halifax and working as a woollen mule piercer. Charlie served with the 2nd Bn Loyals and also served as 31035 in the 1st Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers and 18941 8Bn Royal Irish regiment. He contracted malaria and was discharged in September 1919. We find him in 1939, living with his wife Annie at 101 Wham View, Sowood, Calderdale. He is recorded as working as a worsted piecer.
