Original letter from St James Palace re the award in person of the cb by the Queen.

James Lawrence girling was born 8th july 1901 at Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

1921 appointed assistant examiner patents office LG 6th December 1921 .

9th September 1939 granted commission as pilot officer on probation ( 73877).

18th April 1940 ws flying Officer.

1st March 1942 flight lieutenant.

mentioned in despatches squadron leader ( temp) rafvr LG 14 Jan 1944.

1953 awarded the queen’s coronation medal .

1954 flt lt retaining rank of Squadron Leader.

12th June 1958 lately comptroller-general patent office & industrial property dept ,board of trade awarded the civil division of 3rd class companion of most Honorable order of the Bath.

Died aged 68 on 26th October 1969 at Ipswich in Suffolk.
