British empire medal brooch mounted for wear in its original fitted case and outer cardboard case.
A letter from 10 downing St confirming the award dated 28th December 1949.

John Augustus goater was born 5th April 1884 at St kitts .
He served in ww1 and would be entitled to a British War medal and mercantile marine medal.
He also served ww2 and is entitled to a 1939 star , Atlantic star with France and Germany clasp & war medal.
He lived from ww1 until his death on 20th May 1964 at Travis St, Barry Dock , Glamorgan 1st at number 12 then 21 .
His bem awarded in London gazette 2nd Jan 1950 a donkeyman / greaser on ss Raimar of the Radon navigation Co Ltd of Barry.
