Correctly named KGVI pre war Palestine General Service Medal correctly named 4538534 Pte WA Bawden West York R

WWII medals unnamed as issued.

Awarded the GSM in February 1940 with the 2nd Battalion.

William Alexander was born in Paddington in 1920 to William and Irma, one of 6 brothers.

The 2nd Bn served in North Africa throughout the Desert Campaign as part of the ‘Desert Rats’ before many were sent to Burma and India.

William served in Palestine, Abyssinia and North Africa.

He was presumably sent home and did not served in the Far East.

He was to marry Marjery Joins in Bridgend in 1947.

William died in Torbay, Devon in 1982.

One would guess to the entitlement of the 8th Army clasp.

The lot comes with 9 photographs of William in service and a West Yorkshire cap badge as well as a printout of a newspaper report of details of him and his brothers.

All medals have original silk ribbons.

A nice lot that is worthy of some further research.
