Correctly named F39396 AF Newman AC2 RNAS
Born in Reading in September 1899 to George and Suzanne, Arthur Frank Newman is found living at 74 Hosier Street in Reading.
He enlisted into service in late 1917 and transferred to the Royal Air Force upon its creation in April 1918.
It is noted that he was a motor driver upon enlistment.
He was discharged with the Silver War Badge numbered 7113 (not present) due to deafness.
The BWM is his only medal entitlement.
Upon his release from RAF Halton, his address is given as 68 Rupert Street, Reading.
He married Jannet King Dunsmore Mark in Bridgend in 1927.
We find him in 1939 living at 39 Acland Road in Bridgend where he is working as a driver/mechanic.
He died in Bridgend in 1984.
The medal retains its original silk ribbon and of course its transmittal box.
