Research leads us to believe this is William tivendale born c1878 at Collessie in fifeshire , Scotland.
Attested 31st January 1899 as 33535 in Royal Artillery and absconded the same day at Edinburgh.
Apprehended by the civilian police 15th February 1899 he was awaiting trial for desertion being disposed of by the colonel he was discharged on payment of £10 on 27th February 1899.
William must have rejoined at some later time and entered France 10th September 1915 as a shoesmith with the Royal field artillery.
